Course Overview
This training workshop will demonstrate how procurement should be organized depends substantially on how procurement behaves or is perceived. Is it there to “serve the factory” and carry out a range of clerical and transactional tasks? Or is it there fundamentally with a commercial orientation, to reduce business costs through negotiating discounts and inviting tenders? Is it there as a co-ordinator of purchasing across the enterprise, driving synergies and managing those suppliers who can serve multiple divisions? Is procurement in place to deliver cross-functional purchasing through internal or external co-ordination, e.g. through early supplier involvement? The development of Procurement and supply management from a transactional function through to having a value chain orientation is what this workshop is about.
